Palm Reading

Palmistry (hasta samudrika) reads the hand as a map of disposition — not destiny. The dominant hand shows what you've made of life; the non-dominant hand shows what you were born with. Differences between them are where the work has happened.

The six main lines

Heart Line — हृदय रेखा

Topmost horizontal line, running below the fingers.

Emotional life, relationships, capacity to give and receive love.

Long: Open-hearted; gives generously, sometimes overwhelms.

Short: Reserved with emotion; chooses people carefully.

Head Line — मस्तिष्क रेखा

Middle horizontal line, starting near the thumb.

Intellect, decision-making, communication style.

Long: Analytical, considers options thoroughly.

Short: Quick, decisive — sometimes impulsive.

Life Line — जीवन रेखा

Curving line from between thumb and index finger, around the base of the thumb.

Vitality and stability — NOT lifespan, which it does not predict.

Long: Strong constitution, steady energy.

Short: Variable energy; supplement with rest and pranayama.

Fate Line — भाग्य रेखा

Vertical line rising from the base of the palm toward the middle finger.

Career path, sense of vocation, externally-driven life events.

Long: Clear career direction from a young age.

Short: Self-determined path; changes career direction several times.

Sun Line (Apollo) — सूर्य रेखा

Vertical line rising toward the ring finger.

Recognition, creative success, public favour.

Long: Late-life recognition is often clearer than early fame.

Short: Works without external validation; intrinsically motivated.

Mercury Line (Health) — स्वास्थ्य रेखा

Diagonal line from the heel of the palm up toward the little finger.

Health awareness, digestion, communication skills. Cleaner is better; absence is also fine.

Long: Pay attention to digestion and stress signals.

Short: Generally robust constitution.

The seven mounts

Mount of Venus (base of thumb) — Love, sensuality, family warmth. Well-developed: generous, affectionate.
Mount of Jupiter (under index finger) — Ambition, leadership, dharma. Well-developed: natural authority.
Mount of Saturn (under middle finger) — Discipline, solitude, philosophy. Over-developed: melancholy.
Mount of Sun (under ring finger) — Charisma, art, recognition. Well-developed: charming and noticed.
Mount of Mercury (under little finger) — Speech, commerce, communication. Well-developed: skilled negotiator.
Mount of Mars (between thumb and Mercury) — Courage, resilience. Inner Mars: aggression; outer Mars: endurance.
Mount of Moon (heel of palm) — Imagination, intuition, dreams. Well-developed: psychic sensitivity.

Four hand types

Earth (square palm, short fingers)
Practical, grounded, hands-on. Engineer / farmer / craftsman energy.
Air (square palm, long fingers)
Analytical, communicative. Writer / teacher / consultant.
Water (long palm, long fingers)
Intuitive, emotional, creative. Artist / counsellor / mystic.
Fire (long palm, short fingers)
Action-oriented, charismatic. Entrepreneur / athlete / leader.
