Feng Shui
Feng shui (literally "wind-water") is the Chinese science of spatial energy. Its closest Indian cousin is Vastu — both map the home to directions, but feng shui adds a nine-zone bagua grid you overlay on your floor plan, and a five-element cycle that explains why certain rooms feel right or wrong together.
The nine bagua zones
Stand at your main entrance facing inward. The bagua overlays a 3×3 grid on your floor — career is at the entrance edge, fame at the opposite end, with the rest distributed as follows:
- Career (North) WaterMirror, fountain, dark blue / black accents.
- Knowledge (NE) EarthBooks, crystals, blue / black colours.
- Family (East) WoodFamily photos, plants, green tones.
- Wealth (SE) WoodMoney plant, purple / red items, flowing water.
- Fame (South) FireCandles, awards, red colours, upward shapes.
- Relationships (SW) EarthPairs of objects, pink / red, rose quartz.
- Children (West) MetalMetal art, white / pastels, round shapes.
- Helpful people (NW) MetalGrey / silver / gold, photos of mentors.
- Health (Centre) EarthKeep clutter-free; earth-toned ceramics, yellow.
The five elements
Each element feeds the next (productive cycle) and drains another (controlling cycle). To boost a zone, add its element; to calm an over-active zone, add the element that drains it.
| Element | Feeds | Drains | Colour | Shape |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wood | Fire | Earth | Green | Tall / rectangular |
| Fire | Earth | Metal | Red | Triangular / upward |
| Earth | Metal | Water | Yellow / brown | Square |
| Metal | Water | Wood | White / metallics | Round / oval |
| Water | Wood | Fire | Black / dark blue | Wavy / irregular |
Your kua number
Each person is either of the East or West group based on a number derived from birth-year and sex. Vedic Jyoti's fortune report computes your kua number alongside your Vedic lucky directions and the Lo Shu grid.
